Something often happens when we get our hands on religion – we turn it into a system to control others. It’s no surprise, then, how conversations relating to spiritual things can leave a bad taste behind. But at the heart of the gospel is a very different message, one that taps into the deepest held needs of each person: freedom and belonging. In Paul’s letter to the Galatian churches, we hear from a very passionate apostle who is furious that the “old guard” is corrupting Christ’s message into something lesser. This winter at Sequoia we look at this great letter, and recapture the true nature of knowing God: Freedom and Belonging.
